If you don't want to play at native resolution, you should still play at a lower resolution that matches the aspect ratio of your monitor (other than the new panoramic monitors and those old 17-19in LCDs, all monitors are 4:3, 16:10, or 16:9 and all widescreen TVs are 16:9). It's not in your head if the game feels snappier, there's over a year's worth of under-the-hood optimizations in the patch.ĭon't play at 1280x1024, it's a narrow 5:4 aspect ratio which is an extremely strange and obsolete resolution that should never be used outside of legacy 17 and 19 inch LCDs. I also play TA at 1280x1024, I could use a higher res but using the native res feels too zoomed out for TA IMO, feels more nostalgic in a lower res haha. However that said I have a fairly powerful system Really like the minimap btw, makes it much easier to clearly see enemy positions which have a colour scheme annoyingly close to the surrounding terrain/water. But I used my mouse wheel like crazy hopping in and out of the big battle when many a reaper was flaming its target and I saw no slow down at all. In fact the game feels slightly faster and "sharper" (cant describe it), than before for some odd reason, probably in my head though. I saw no slow down at all compared to how I was playing ESC 6.7 and v3.9.1. the ai gets unlimited resources so as you can imagine this is basically an endless stream of T1/T2/T3 units going at each other from both sides. Lag wise I am using the hotfix and just tried a 4 player game using ESC and its cheating AI on a decent sized metal map. Right got it all sorted if anyone read this post ignore it haha.
